First-Past-the-Post (FPTP)? WTF?

Opposing Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) in favor of FPTP is immoral!

I was going to go grocery shopping, but right as I was about to leave, I asked my 5 year old daughter if she wanted me to get her ice cream.

"Vanila, Chocolate or Strawberry." I listed.

"Chocolate please and if there isn't any, then I'll take Strawberry instead." She replied. I then told her:

"Sweetie, it doesn't work like that. If they don't have Chocolate then I'll get you something random.",

She squinted her eyes, a dumbfounded gaze escaped through her two slits. Her lips trembled, it almost seemed as if she was mouthing something... The full portrait of her face was best described as "the most WTF look I'd ever seen".

"B-but why? That's such a mean, stupid and dumb rule?"

"Sweetie, first, watch your mouth, and second, this country is ruled based on this "silly" rule for more than 150 years and 40 million Canadians think it is totally fine. I'm not sure as a kid you can claim you know a smarter way of choosing your ice cream than the way all the 40 million Canadians are choosing their government." She maintainted her stupified expression. I could practically see the words in her eyes "WTF. I'm sure that is is bullshit. There is no way that 40 million people could accept such a dumb rule..."

If you love First-Past-the-Post (FPTP) so much then go ahead, be my guest and just choose one candidate on your RCV ballot, nobody is going to stop you or force you to rank more than one candidate.

But you voting against a Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) ballot in favor of a FPTP one is simply immoral. You are restricting my freedom of choice because you don't like me ranking my preferences because why?

It is so simple, you can explain it to a five year old. I don't understand which part you don't get 🤷
